'Bite Size' Consultancy Project

Leading Regional Law Firm – Consultancy Services

Our client is a forward thinking, progressive regional law firm supporting the businesses which drive the innovation economy, and the entrepreneurs and private wealth that underpin them. With a presence in the UK and Asia, our client’s key practice areas include corporate, commercial technology, IP, brands, employment, commercial real estate, disputes and private wealth but what really sets it apart is its investment in legal technology and AI.

Purpose of the project

Jarred Consulting was mandated to come into the firm with a fresh pair of eyes and provide a thorough review of their current end to end graduate recruitment, selection and assessment process. The client took advantage of our Bite Size consultancy service (link to Bite Size Consultancy page) offering a fixed-fee project to provide a clearly scoped review. Having spent time getting to know the firm and its unique culture, it became apparent that the graduate recruitment team were finding it challenging to progress high quality candidates through the system at the pace in which competitors were doing so due to their lean resourcing model. This was coupled with the need to see more candidates at interview stage and convert a higher volume from their vacation schemes.

How Jarred Consulting helped

We conducted an end to end review of the Graduate Recruitment assessment process, with a particular focus on the assessment materials. Firstly we took a look at their application form and advised on how the long answer questions be reworded against clearer screening guidelines, ensuring they were free from bias. We then advised on the assessment tools that were available and recommended one which would act as both a screening tool but in equal measure add more value to the process by feeding in vital information on the candidate to use at subsequent stages in the application process.

This particular client was looking to combine strengths, competencies and personality in its assessment method and the test chosen covers off all in equal measure. An Assessment Day model incorporating a variety of assessment methodologies is the next item on the ‘wish list’ which Jarred Consulting hopes to have the opportunity to design and deliver in the not too distant future, as well as assist with a few other HR projects in the pipeline.

We are looking forward to supporting this exciting, high growth, innovative client with further projects.
