Kate is a talent acquisition manager having gained 16 years of corporate experience leading successful recruitment teams in global businesses, including the last 7 years as the Head of Recruiting at a top tier strategy management consulting firm.
Prior to that Kate worked at a US law firm, setting up their first training contract programme which went on to win multiple industry awards. In that role, she led the recruitment marketing efforts and increased the brand awareness to position Skadden as a top tier US law firm in the UK market. Her role involved designing an assessment framework, implementing a new selection process and leading debrief meetings to ensure quality candidates were being hired.
At the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Kate led a team of recruiters responsible for the hiring of undergraduates, MBA hires and experienced professionals, including Partner level candidates. Kate was accountable for sourcing and selecting exceptionally high-calibre candidates, congruent with the firm’s global leading reputation. As part of the HR senior management team, Kate was an integral part of the People team strategy and worked closely with the firm’s leadership team to deliver talent requirements in line with the firm’s overall strategy. In addition to heading up the recruitment function, she was responsible for delivering a number of other project-based assignments such as improving diversity initiates, reducing the cost and time to hire, streaming processes, re-defining the recruiting Employee Value Proposition, implementing a new ATS and improving hiring metrics to inform future decision making.
Kate has also been a key decision maker for designing and implementing frameworks for application and interview criteria resulting in improved quality hires in the pipeline. Kate has led internal teams to make improved hiring decisions through training interviewers in selection techniques and improved calibration.
Kate has a 2:1 degree in Business Management from the University of East Anglia. Following her degree Kate taught English in Japan to broaden her cultural experience and then went on to live in New Zealand for a year where she started working in her first recruitment role. In both of these experiences, Kate honed her interpersonal and communication skills and enjoyed interacting in different international environments. On her return to the UK, Kate worked as an Account Manager for Reed Graduates, serving outsourced high-volume graduate recruitment campaigns for blue-chip companies such as Barclays, Sainsbury’s, Royal Mail and Lloyds. After the last 16 years working in internal teams, Kate has become a freelance talent acquisition consultant and career coach to business school students.
