Emma MacDonald

Emma has been a resourcing specialist for over 15 years. She started her career at a global management consulting firm where she was responsible for the attraction and selection of MBAs from the leading US and European schools. She was headhunted from here to take up a role with a venture capital firm where she managed the relationships with the management teams of the Firm’s “portfolio companies”. She moved into the legal industry in 2003 and has managed the global resourcing requirements for niche as well as magic circle law firms.
Her most recent role prior to joining Jarred Consulting was with Linklaters, a major international law firm. On a fixed term contract to cover a maternity leave, Emma was the Head of the London Resourcing team. The team comprised lateral hire, graduate recruitment and trainee development teams. Emma was responsible for overseeing the three teams and providing advice on a daily basis. Other tasks included budget planning, reviewing resourcing strategies, managing relationships with the Practice, and project work to include outsourcing part of the recruitment process.
When the contract finished Emma was asked to stay on in one of the newly-created HR Business Partner roles. She worked within global practice areas advising Partners on talent management and performance; and she worked closely alongside Business Managers on headcount planning and practice initiatives.
As a consultant for Jarred Consulting, Emma has led design projects for several law firms. Each project has required a re-design of part or all of the firm’s assessment and selection processes. Emma works with stakeholders across the business in order to identify the key recruitment priorities and create effective assessment tools. She has also developed competency frameworks and more robust and objective scoring systems.
Also within the legal industry Emma led a 3 month project onsite at international law firm Simmons & Simmons. She was responsible for identifying and developing an alternative resourcing solution to assist in fulfilling the Firm’s client secondment requirements.
Emma was involved in a project for another client who required content for a mapping tool which was to be incorporated into a global prospecting campaign. Emma designed an online quiz to be undertaken by candidates who are considering what course to do, providing each with a recommendation at the end of the quiz as to which course they should do.
Emma holds a degree in Modern Languages (French & Spanish).
